Response Deadline:
June 14, 2019

Subscription Term

Begins:

July 1, 2019

Ends:

June 30, 2020

Renewal pricing for 2019/20 is now available for EBSCO's Discovery Service (EDS). Based on current participation, subscribers will enjoy a 25% discount off of EDS prices and a two percent (2%) base cost increase in 2019/20. Subscribers that joined last year have benefited from ramp up pricing.

Updates:

The EDS subscription is a joint BC ELN / e-HLbc license. Both consortia receive the same group participation discount. Since 2016/17, there have been a number of new BC ELN partner libraries join the license. Following are the negotiated discounts and increases over 3 years (currently in year 3):

2017-18: 0% increase and 20% discount

2018-19: 0% increase and 25% discount

2019-20 (current year): 2% increase and 25% discount

For the purpose of clarity, the original pricing details (which included ambiguity, and depended on participation levels) have been replaced with finalized, detailed 3 year pricing.

Additional Information

  1. License Start Date - July 1, 2017 is the license start date. However, BC ELN has negotiated rolling implementation. That means that those institutions who join the EDS subscription early could get free access once EDS has been set up for their institutions.
  2. 3-Year Commitment - EBSCO has agreed to an annual license; however, to lock in these deep discounts, BC ELN and e-HLbc have negotiated a 3-year good faith commitment for participants. Of course, in the case of economic emergencies, institutions may drop at the annual renewal with no penalty.
  3. Price increases - BC ELN and e-HLbc have negotiated that price increases for EDS will be no more than 2% annually until 2020.
