Retrieving EBSCO MARC Records

EBSCO partners with the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) to provide customers with free, customizable MARC records for every EBSCO ebook subscription, such as eHLbc's EBSCO eBooks Nursing Collection.

To retrieve MARC records, eHLbc members will need a Collection Manager account with OCLC's WorldShare Collection Manager Service. eHLbc members do not need to be members of OCLC to create a Collection Manager account. There are no fees associated with the account.

Check out the steps below or the Additional Resources for more guides:

  1. Set up a Collection Manager Account (skip if your institution already has an OCLC membership)
  2. Request Collection Loading of EBSCO Collections
  3. Create Additional Staff Accounts (optional)
  4. Customise your MARC Records
  5. Configure your Proxy Settings (if desired)
  6. Set up MARC Email Record Delivery (if desired)

Step 1: Set up a Collection Manager Account

  1. Fill out and submit the Request Form to initiate the set up of your Collection Manager account. You will not need to fill out the OCLC Symbol and Registry ID fields. Skip this step if your institution already has a membership with OCLC.
  2. After submitting the Request Form, you will receive a welcome message from OCLC (this may take several weeks). The welcome message will include a WorldShare URL, a username, a 9-digit "admin" authorization code/number, and your institution's OCLC Symbol.
  3. Follow the instructions in the welcome message for setting up a password.
